Patrick Mata and Alberto Orte, both from Spanish winemaking families dating to the 1800s, founded Olé in 1999 while still in college — the first wines they shipped came from Alberto's family in Montilla. Two decades on, the portfolio connects some of the best family winegrowers on the Iberian Peninsula to the American market, sold in all 50 states. Alberto, a driving force in the "New Spain" movement, has made reviving nearly extinct native varieties part of the mission.
