Born in Südburgenland, Jutta Ambrositsch left her career as a graphic designer in Vienna to pursue winemaking in 2004, starting with just 650 liters and now farming four hectares across ten parcels within the city—split between both sides of the Danube. Alongside her husband, Marco Kalchbrenner, she manages every aspect of their small but vibrant operation, including a traditional Buschenschank opened in 2006. Jutta farms organically (though uncertified) and focuses on Gemischter Satz, Vienna’s signature field blend, honoring its historic co-planting traditions rather than conforming to Vienna DAC rules. Her wines, mostly fermented in stainless steel with minimal intervention, balance clarity and energy with an expressive, “rock-and-roll” personality—revealing Vienna’s terroir through a mix of tradition, artistry, and unrestrained joy.
