Originally from the Douro, Miguel Viseu spent his twenties learning winemaking across the globe, with experience in Napa, Burgundy, Tuscany, Cahors, and Brazil, before pursuing his dream of living in Africa, where he worked in Mozambique for three years. Returning to Portugal, he planned to join a major Douro producer but instead became head winemaker at Aphros in 2017, a serendipitous match with biodynamic pioneer Vasco Croft. In 2018, Miguel and his wife Leli also launched their own tiny négociant project, Galactic, starting from their garage with purchased grapes. Producing only a few thousand bottles, Galactic is focused on natural, zero-intervention winemaking with minimal sulfur and aspires to remain small, independent, and eventually biodynamic with rented vines.
