Philippe Viet is an unconventional French winemaker who transitioned from a career in banking and IT consulting to pursue a deep-seated passion for wine, eventually establishing himself in Beaujolais in 2018. Learning under respected vintners in France and Australia, Viet developed a philosophy centered on humility, land stewardship, and artistic expression, which extends to his annually changing label designs. Today, he farms 2.5 hectares across the Régnié, Fleurie, and Morgon crus, utilizing high-elevation, old-vine Gamay plots that he is actively converting to organic certification. His cellar practices emphasize gentle extraction, low sulfur usage, and diverse aging vessels—such as concrete vats, sandstone amphoras, and oak puncheons—to craft elegant, terroir-driven, and highly drinkable wines that showcase the distinct freshness and complexity of the region.
