Domaine Sylvie Esmonin is a historic Côte de Nuits estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin, previously known as Domaine Michel Esmonin et Fille before Sylvie Esmonin returned in 1990 after working as a consulting oenologist to succeed her father. The 7.8-hectare estate encompasses old-vine holdings spanning Bourgogne Rouge, Côte de Nuits-Villages (from Brochon), Gevrey-Chambertin village, Volnay Santenots, and a premier 1.7-hectare parcel of the famed Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos-Saint-Jacques situated directly behind the family home. In the cellar, vinification takes place in open wooden vats followed by barrel aging, using a tailored approach to oak maturation that ranges from neutral barrels for village-level cuvées up to approximately 75% new oak for the flagship Clos-Saint-Jacques.
